Children and Youngsters Via Ferrata in Gosau
For climbing kids from the age of seven
Where can children and young people from the age of seven gain their first climbing experience? Of course in the UNESCO World Heritage region of Hallstatt Dachstein Salzkammergut. Because in the Gosau Hintertal there is the first via ferrata for the young climbers. A great thing for the whole family.
Climb of two possibilities
The "Max & Moritz” via ferrata for children and youngsters was designed by its builders in such a way that it has two stages. One is the Max route and the other is the Moritz route. Both routes can be climbed in one go, depending on the stamina of the young climbers. The climb takes its unusual name from the German children's book classic "Max & Moritz" by Wilhelm Busch.
The way to the start
The starting and finishing point of this relatively easy climbing tour is at the Gosauschmied car park in the Gosau Hintertal. From here, a well-signposted forest path leads, among other things, along the reservoir, in about 15 minutes to the entry point of the 300-metre-long mountain adventure.
A great experience for the whole family. Of course, all relevant safety measures and equipment should be checked and adjusted beforehand. Then nothing stands in the way of a great climbing gig with a magnificent panoramic view.
Note for climbing enthusiasts
A printed folder with climbing routes in the Salzkammergut and a detailed route description is available at the four tourist offices of the UNESCO World Heritage Region of Hallstatt Dachstein Salzkammergut. In addition, local outdoor providers also offer the option of booking an experienced guide for the "via ferrata experience". You can find the contact details for this under “Information at a glance” below.
Safety on the rock face
In recent years rock climbing has developed encouragingly strong and each year inspires more and more people. Its versatility means you get a taste of everything: whether hard tracks in the Boulder room or indoor climbing hall, long routes with alpine ambience or leisurely tours on a sunny cliff - in climbing, regardless of age, everyone finds their individual conditions. Safety guidelines play an important role in enabling you to enjoy this fascination to the full. The best advice for "correct" climbing in the Salzkammergut region can be found here.
