“Steegwirt” in Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt

On the northern tip of Lake Hallstatt, where the fjord-like lake flows into the Traun, lies the rustic inn “Steegwirt”. Built in 1571, by the salt merchant Khappl, as a stop for the mariners, who at that time transported the salt, from the oldest salt mine in the world in Hallstatt, over the lake and the down the Traun to the rest of the world.
