”Griaß God bon Steegwirt“ – The Steegwirt is the culinary gateway to the World Cultural Heritage Region.
Our “old” inn has stood here at the intersection of Lake Hallstatt in Steeg and the community of Bad Goisern for almost 500 years. The Steegwirt is one of the few remaining Renaissance buildings in the Salzkammergut. Here, during the 16th century, the salt boats would transfer goods from the lake to the River Traun. You can still visualise this today as you sit under the shade of a chestnut tree in the beer garden or in a lovely sunny position on the terrace whilst soaking up the relaxing atmosphere. You can also while away the hours in the traditional guest lounge/restaurant.
Here we prepare traditional regional food specialities using local produce as well as culinary favourites from around the world. At the Steegwirt we pride ourselves on being able to provide what our guests and friends enjoy most.
Following our renovation work in 2018, we are now able to offer our guests unique overnight accommodation. Each of our four rooms is highly individual with its own special charm. The rooms have been furnished almost entirely with “old” items (wood and traditional furniture ....) from the original Steegwirt. They have all been restored, and lend the rooms their character.
Each of the rooms is a 24m² feel-good area, and has an open shower and washing area, separate WC, satellite television and double bed with box spring mattress. A refreshing night’s sleep is thus guaranteed. What is more, there are stunning views of the outside world. Enjoy panoramic views of Lake Hallstatt and the Ramsau mountain range. All four rooms are located on the first floor of the building, and easily accessible by lift.
During the summer months you can, as our guest, make use of the private access to the lake as well as the bathing area on the other side of the road which passes by the property.
The Steegwirt is located in the heart of the stunningly beautiful countryside of the Salzkammergut, and we are sure you will want to make use of every opportunity to explore the region’s charms. Local places of interest include the centre of Bad Goisern, Hallstatt or Bad Ischl, and they are all just a short drive away. There is also a bus stop just outside!
