This hike has a high alpine transition through an impressive karst landscape on tight rocky trails. Good stamina, high surefootedness and stable weather conditions are essential for hiking this tour safely. In early summer there are still some snowfields which have to be crossed.

From the Adamek to the Simony hut ( 5 hours)

From the Adamek hut we hike downwards in direction Gosausee until we come to the trail sign "Hohen Riedel", 2035m. From here take the trail number 650 under the Schreiberwandeck in direction north untill there are further signs. We continue the hike through the huge rocky Kar of the Schneeloch up to the Hoßwandscharte.

From the Hosswandscharte at 2187m we do a short decent in direction north. After that we have the difficult crossing of the north shoulder of the Hoßkogl. Then upwards again onto the wide saddle of the high Trog. Now we have another decent over snowfields and into the wide Wildkar. Finally we arrive the long seen Simony hut.

Many prominent figures have explored this region: nobles like Archduke Johann and Empress Elisabeth, scientists such as Friedrich Simony, poets and authors like Nikolaus Lenau, painters like Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller, musicians and composers such as Johannes Brahms. Did they ever think that hiking in the Salzkammergut might have no end? That they could tramp from one lake to the next and then onward to yet another? Day by day along the shores of crystal-clear waters? Week-long excursions through quiet valley forests, over sunny alpine meadows and up mountains fuelled by the anticipation of the next destination? But be careful: Especially in spring, there are a few things to consider: There is often still a lot of snow on the mountains, so be careful when crossing snowfields. After winter, you are usually still a bit "rusty", so warm up accordingly in advance and plan your tour carefully. Let your host know the planned route. This can lead to quick help in an emergency. But there's more to consider:
