Parking in Hallstatt

Thanks to its unique location between mountain and lake, Hallstatt has enjoyed world wide recognition. Due this reputation and the influx of visitors each year, there is extremely limited parking in the village center and through traffic is not possible. Therefore the center of Hallstatt is closed to all traffic between 10.00 and 17.00 from May until October.

To accommodate guests, the village of Hallstatt has created a traffic system that directs travelers to 5 different parking garages within the Hallstatt Tunnel (Parkterrasse) and also in the neighborhood of Lahn. If your accommodations are located in the village center, then you may receive a free card authorizing you to drive into the village at any time. Consult your hotel staff or parking officials in order to
receive your free card. Additionally, all guests are encouraged to consult their hosts in order to receive a free.
