On foot in the winter

The valley of Gosau and Goisern

A popular route in Gosau is along the Gosau brook from Vorder valley into the Hinter valley. The brook bubbles with steamy freezing fast flowing water in the cold weather creating a winter fairy tale. In Bad Goisern the hint of the faithful rider creates a river similar sensation.

Gosau: The romantic winter hiking route. For the more adventurous hiker try the route to Gosauer Zwieselalm, make a pause in the Alm hut and enjoy the view from the Gosau Lake and the Dachstein glacier. Those who have cross country skied in the route of the Panorama nova may have pondered over the pilgrims who had headed for the preachers spot.

A winter dream in Obertraun

Obertraun has much to offer as a high winter alternative to the rough and tough tracks from the Dachstein. Hallstatt offers an attractive alternative along the snow tracks beside the forest brook in the winter beauty. This route is cleared of snow only until the last house in Echern valley but most of the time you will still find fresh footprints in the path made in the dreamy, quiet winter world.
